International friends is an interdenominational group of local people from different
Churches in the Coleraine /
Triangle area who seek to offer Christian friendship within a family setting to International students studying at the University of Ulster (Coleraine Campus). Although we have an agreement with the University to respect the cultural and religious identities of the students, "Link families" are involved because "they care and want to get to know the students". The Scriptures teach that others "will know that we are Christians by our love".
Students appreciate being invited into homes and although they enjoy home cooking, they do not expect elaborate meals. At present we have several families within Hazelbank who are involved, but as more students are increasingly being accommodated within the local area, additional "link homes" are required. Those of us who are involved have found the experience to be a uniquely enriching and a beneficial one indeed. Jill Curry is currently the contact committee member for Hazelbank, and would love to hear from interested folk as soon as possible.
